Nice, but be careful | |
| First of all, its' a great price, but like the title says "be careful" with it. Mine broke at the vertical adjustment. If you buy this item, be sure to lift the lever straight UP (not back) and the leverage is better. This is how I broke mine (after about 20 bottles opened) It would be helpful to place the opener on a surface lower than a kitchen counter for the best leverage.
I found the vacuum base so weak that I usually didn't bother with it. Would I buy this again? Probably not. Considering how much I enjoy wine, I am going to spring for a higher quality opener.
so far I love it | |
| The last two wine openers I bought broke after a few months so I desided to try this one. So far it is great. Works so easy & keeps the bottle in place so it won't walk all over the counter. I have only had it a few weeks so I am just hopeing that it was work in a few months but for now it is great. | |
Great Performer and Well-Worth the Price
| This item IS made in China, the base is heavy plastic, and the mechanism is not stainless steel, but for the price, it's well-worth it. The suction-base adheres firmly to any smooth surface making it stable; the stand adjusts to .75l or 1.5l bottles, and the extraction mechanism is heavy-duty. The corkscrew easily penetrates cork or plastic stoppers and extracts them smoothly; put the handle in reverse and the stopper is disengaged from the corkscrew. You can also recork bottles quite easily. This product is better than a wall-mounted unit, because it's transportable and storable, and far superior to hand-held gadgets, because it accomplishes the basic task effortlessly. | |
