| Great for pet hair & carpet, needs big push | |
| Regardless of the cost of the vacuum, I have had trouble in the last 7 years with the problem of pet hair and carpet fibers clogging the vacuum right at the bend of the flexible feeder tube from the agitator brush assembly to the top of the feed bag. It basically turned my "vacuum" into a "beater brush machine" until I took the hose apart and cleared it by hand.
I looked around and found this feeder system to be the best in this price range for the clogging problem because: 1. The tube is considerably wider in diameter than the others. 2. Only part of the tube is flexible; most of it is fixed, with controlled bends. That's a good thing. 3. The main feeder tube from the brush assembly is NOT used for accesory cleaning; it's a single-purpose tube. That's a great thing. As 90% of you vacuumimg is through that tube, I really like that idea. 4. The angle of the agitator assembly and the upright part can be made to be pretty small so that you can use the vacuum itself to clear the tube without taking it apart. Problems: 1. This takes a lot of effort to push around a carpet. I don't mind it, but I can really see others complaining about this. 2. The release latch for the angle of the handle is pretty not good. I'm left-footed and left-handed, and I still have trouble with it. I did purchase this vacuum from Amazon. | |

| Purchased the 4870 (with 6 bonus bags) for our Mom (85). Very easy to assemble. Extra long tool wand. Very-very quiet. Great suction and brush action, really "lifts" the carpet nap. Ergonomic handle.
At first, we tried the carpet height adjustment on medium, and found the vac a bit hard to push on medium-thick carpet. For the price, this is a great vac. We paid $113.88, after a $25.00 special discount, and $0 S&H | |

| Bought this vacume based on Consumer Reports recommendation. It is a very good vacume overall, great suction, tools mounted on unit makes it very convenient. Only minor negative comments: foot button to unlock handle for vacuming floors is very hard to press (especially with bare feet), switch to change from bare floor to carpet is also very stiff to operate. Very good unit at a reasonable price! | |
